Gift of Life International
Mission
To provide lifesaving cardiac treatment to children in need from developing countries regardless of gender, creed, or national origin. Our goal is to develop sustainable pediatric cardiac programs by implementing screening, surgical and training visits which are supported by autonomous Gift of Life programs, Rotary global grants and generous donors from around the world.
Vision
Our vision is to be the premier international non-profit organization by establishing sustainable pediatric cardiac surgery, catheterization, and aftercare programs in developing countries by empowering the local healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills to care for their own children.
About
Gift of Life delivers hope to children with heart disease and to their families by empowering doctors and nurses with the tools, training, funding and support they need to treat children in their country of birth. We help develop sustainable pediatric cardiac programs in emerging countries through strategic guidance and expand our global reach through partnerships with like-minded organizations to maximize our impact.
We coordinate the efforts of 84 autonomous Gift of Life programs in 80 countries across 5 continents with like-minded partner charities, hospitals, healthcare professionals, Rotarians and volunteers to develop sustainable pediatric cardiac surgery, catheterization and aftercare programs in emerging countries.
“The Rotarian-based program Gift of Life (GOL) began in 1975 with the mission of bringing one child at a time from emerging countries to the USA for cardiac treatment. Today, we have grown to be able to treat a child somewhere in the world every 2 hours and 18 minutes, over 10 children each day.”
