Mission

Hayden's Heart is a non-profit 501(c)(3) that has been created to honor Hayden Jeter Dorsett. Our mission with his foundation is to raise CHD awareness and to keep Hayden's Memory alive by helping families affected by CHD.

About

We achieve this goal by hosting different fundraisers each year in memory of Hayden. With the funds raised from these events, we choose a fellow heart family whose child is beating the odds against CHD but whose family could also benefit from financial help towards outstanding medical bills, travel expenses and just every day living. Unfortunately health insurance companies do not always cover all medical procedures, hospital stays, or medicines and equipment that need to be available for home care. In addition to those expenses, several families must travel far distances to ensure their child is receiving care from the absolute best hospitals, giving their warrior the best fighting chance. Because of this, we have decided to make it our mission to support these families both financially and emotionally. If you or someone you know has a heart warrior and could benefit from a grant, please complete this form.

In addition to financially supporting these families, we also distribute care packages to five pediatric cardiac units on the East Coast in honor of Hayden’s birthday in March. To learn more about our care packages, please see : Hayden's Favorite Things and Other Care Packages.

As a grieving family, we are also passionate about supporting the bereaved heart community. Through Hayden's Holiday, families are granted a mini vacation to get away and spend time with their loved ones. Additionally, we are thrilled to have Hayden’s House of Healing - our very own retreat house that allows us to host retreats all throughout the year for mothers and fathers who have lost a child to any type of loss. Please visit our website for more information or to register for a retreat.

“Hayden was 5 months and 4 days old when he died, and he touched more lives in that time than anyone I have ever known—more than everyone I know combined. He truly changed lives and made people stop and think about what life is all about and to enjoy it to the fullest.”
